The evening temperatures started to drop as called approximately 30 young women were called, according to their counties, to the start line for a grueling 25 laps. Catherine Peñan of Chile took early points behind Carolina Upegui who ultimately took the 1st place. MORE

Anyang 2006: Day 5 200m Time Trial
There were a few dark clouds out, but no rain luckily today for the 200m Time trial heats. With many new nations, it took a long time to get through all the skaters as the referees taught many of them how to do a time trial start. MORE

Anyang 2006: Rest Day
Today is the rest day so we have a chance to reflect on the competition to date. One of the stand out performances for me has been Catherine Peñan of Chile. She was a star a few years ago, then she seemed out of shape for a period of time, but this year she has come back with a vengeance. She is in the best shape of her life and the performances speak for themselves. MORE

Anyang 2006: France Wins!
Only a few hours after I said that France can't win anything on the track, I am eating my words because France has just won the 3000m Men's relay in stunning fashion coming over the top of Kalon Dobbin of New Zealand on the last lap. MORE

Anyang 2006: Day Three: 500 M
Colombia now lead the medal tally after the 500m as they won 3 out of the 4 gold metals up for grabs this morning. After some rain, Colombian Jorge Cifuentes was again public enemy #1 after scrapping with almost everyone in his semi final to make it through to the final. MORE

Anyang 2006: New Zealand Domination
After winning the Senior men's 300m Time Trial last night, Nicole Begg and Scott Arlidge of NZ have just won their Senior Men and Women 10,000m points elimination races. For such a small team, they are really dominating this competition. MORE

Anyang 2006: Day One
At the end of day 1, Colombia, the USA, and the hosts Korea each have 2 gold medals after a wonderful day of speed skating. Chile, Italy, NZ and Chinese Taipei all got off to a good start to the World Championships with medals as well. MORE

Anyang 2006: One day to go!
Only one day remains until the start of the World Championships here in Anyang, Korea. Many teams spent the day practicing relays and doing a few sprints without making themselves too tired. MORE

¨The track seems to be really fast with a long straight and short corners but it’s really bumpy¨.
The majority of teams have now arrived in Korea and have begun testing wheels on the track and perfecting their skating line around the corners as there is now just 1 week until the commencement of the Inline World Champs. MORE

Spain has selected its team that will go to Anyang on August 29.
Just few days are remaining before the start of the 2006 CIC World Championships. The different participating teams have selected their national representing teams. Spain is one of the last to select their team and they held their trials in the Navarran City of Pamplona with the participation of about 35 skaters. MORE

Latin America is ready to begin its assault on South Korea.
Inline speed skating is a relatively young sport and Latin America is one of the largest regions where the sport is participated. The region has very long traditions of roller skating with nations like Argentina and the powerful Colombia and Chile. Venezuela is also fighting hard to join the group. MORE

2006 will be a great year for inline speed skating and Anyang will be in the record books when for the first time the Inline World Championships will have over 50 nations cometing. With the selection of the junior team, Italy is ready to leave for South Korea.
The Italian Roller Sports Federation organized in Scaltenigo the Trials for the junior categories last weekend to select the junior team to go to the coming CIC World Championships in Anyang, Korea. MORE

The 2006 will mark a new record of participating nations in the World Championships.

The development of inline speed skating in the world continues to grow giving good results. The boom of activity in the ‘90’s is long gone but the last year our sport showed signs of a revitalizing market in some countries. Thus the 2006 World Roller Speed Skating Championships will have a new record in the number of participating nations which gives a little push to get our Olympic dream for the 2016 Games. MORE

In Pamplona, Spain will hold their Trails to select their World Team for 2006.

Most of the teams that will participate in the coming World Championships that will be held in Korean city of Anyang have already chosen their teams (some like Australia and NZ did it months ago), but others have not yet selected their team, leaving it right up to the last minute to hold the selection competition.
